Wondering which festival you should take your kids to? The short blog will walk you through an easy way to find the right family festival for you.

The Fantabulous Family's Guide to Choosing the Right Family Festival for You

As 90’s Festival goers have grown up and had families, festivals have become an increasingly popular choice for parents seeking unique and enriching experiences for their children.

To cope with this growing demand, from May to September there’s a constantly evolving list of festivals happening every single weekend.

Each one has its own unique vibe, offering different activities, music, and experiences.

This huge choice, while offering lots of possibilities and opportunities, can also be overwhelming, especially if you're new to taking your kids to festivals.

After all, family festivals involve a considerable investment of both time and money. Amidst the promise of fun and adventure, there's also a tangible worry about getting it wrong.

But here's the good news.

These 3 simple steps will let you easily find a festival that’s going to be perfect for your family.

Ready to learn it?

Then read on.

Step 1: Identify Your Needs

The first step in choosing the right family festival, is to get clear on what you want out of it.

Let’s take the Johnson family as an example. A couple of years ago they decided to go to their first family festival. Without much thought, they picked a festival that was happening nearby.

When they got there, they soon realised it didn't have anything to keep their two kids entertained, plus it was hot, loud, and full of adults behaving like, well adults.

It was a stressful experience for everyone, and they learned a valuable lesson: working out what you want from a festival is crucial.

Whether you are you looking for a festival with a balance of adult and child-friendly activities or one that has a calm and quiet environment knowing what you are looking makes it easier to find a festival that aligns with your family's needs and preferences.

More importantly, it helps you avoid disappointments and ensures your time and money are well spent on an experience your family will truly enjoy.

Spend some time identifying your must haves, nice to haves and shouldn’t haves and you’ll be well on your way to have a great festival experience. If you need some help with this, our FREE downloadable guide gives you 14 different factors to consider.

Step 2: Do your Research

Let’s go back to our friends the Johnsons. They didn’t give up, instead the following year they decided to put a bit more thought into their next festival.

After working out what they wanted from a festival, they did some research and found a wide range of family festivals catering to different tastes and preferences.

For instance, they found a festival that had a book tent perfect for their book-loving eldest, some outdoor activities like tree climbing that their active youngest would adore and some fabulous 90’s bands to keep mum and dad happy.

By thoroughly researching what different festivals were offering, they were able find some that matched everyone’s interests.

And just as importantly they were able to discard some festivals as being completely inappropriate for them.

Suddenly the choice of festivals was less overwhelming and the worries about wasting money on the wrong festival disappeared.

They were sure their next festival experience was going to be a lot better than the first!

Step 3: Create Your Shortlist

Having researched what they wanted and worked out what festivals had on offer, the Johnson’s then weighed up the pros and cons of each festival until they had created a shortlist of three festivals that matched most of their criteria.

Feeling much more confident about their choice, they went ahead and bought tickets to the one at the top of the list.

And they had such an amazing time that they decided to go to a second too.

That’s the power of a fantastic family festival – its addictive and once experienced you’ll want to go to another and another and another…..
